Working in an exclusive arrangement with Building Heroes, a charity supporting those in the Armed Forces, we have established the ground-breaking Regal London Real Estate Academies, the first of their kind to provide training onsite for over 80 military veterans and local people at each Academy per year.
Our Academies provide construction courses and access to employment opportunities for military service leavers and local underrepresented groups providing £2.1 million in additional social value per Academy per year using the National TOMs framework.
We work closely with local community organisations and local authorities to make sure that we are meeting the skills gap and providing opportunities to those who are furthest from employment.
The climate emergency is the biggest challenge facing us and the built environment is responsible for almost 40% of all greenhouse gas emissions. Rather than waiting for the solutions to come along, we have used our expertise in building partnerships to get us into the fast lane. The built environment is responsible for almost 40 per cent of all greenhouse gas emissions. We have to take drastic action now if we are to deliver the new homes needed for our growing population and reduce the impact on our planet.
We have pledged to transition to delivering net zero carbon buildings by 2030 whilst maintaining the bespoke aesthetics and uncompromising quality that define our developments. We have formed an in-house steering committee, recognising that our transition to net zero impacts every decision we take at every stage of the development process, from land acquisition to planning, construction methods and asset management. We are working with leading consultants to ensure that we understand our impact and to accelerate our progress through our supply chain, partnerships and investments.
We have made a strategic investment into Modulous, a global digital construction firm that uses a software platform to design, manufacture and deliver sustainable affordable housing schemes across the UK. We’re not only investing into, but partnering with Modulous, to speed up our own processes
– both at the land acquisition stage and during construction. This means we can deliver sustainable homes, at pace.
Alongside the climate emergency, we face the grand challenges of health and wellbeing, quality of place and the ecology crisis. Working with world class consultants, we ensure that these decisions are built into our processes right at the start – with our fully integrated model we are able to make biodiversity a priority.
We have contributed to London’s transformation over the past 20 years. Now, more than ever, we recognise the importance of delivering social value to the areas we work in while at the same time regenerating the urban landscape to create high-quality, sustainable and biodiverse developments.

We will also be launching a first of its kind ‘pop up’ Training Academies, under our new Regal London Real Estate Academy scheme in exclusive partnership with Building Heroes. To date, Building Heroes has worked with over 1,000 military veterans, providing construction skills and training, and supporting them into sustainable employment in the building and engineering trades.
The Regal London Real Estate Academy will utilise Building Heroes’ expertise to deliver the training programme to military veterans as well as working with local authorities to help members of underrepresented & disadvantaged local communities struggling to secure employment.

Jonathan joined Regal London in 2016 as a Non-Executive Director and was appointed Managing Director in January 2017 before assuming the role of Chief Executive Officer in July 2020. Prior to joining Regal London full time, Jonathan spent 25 years’ working in law, corporate finance, publicly listed funds and private equity. Jonathan is both a member of Regal London’s Executive Committee and Management Committee.
