Planning permission secured for office development on City fringes

Regal London has achieved planning approval for a high quality, 11-storey office building, comprising over 4,650 sqm of new commercial floorspace, at 73-77 Commercial Road.

The new employment floorspace will create around 357 jobs, a significant contribution to meeting the employment and regeneration aspirations of both the London Borough of Tower Hamlets and the GLA in the part of the Borough.

Designed by Scott Brownrigg, the building has been created for flexible office use with efficient and open floorplans.

Simon De Friend, Joint CEO of Regal London, commented: “Tower Hamlet’s vision for Whitechapel, along with the arrival of Crossrail, has spurred regeneration along Commercial Road, with occupiers seeking high quality commercial space in an area that offers accessibility to the City and Old Street, as well as a thriving arts and cultural scene. This development is a key element in the continuing transformation of the area.”

This office development is Regal London’s first purely commercial project, marking a milestone in their strategy to develop a wider mixed use portfolio in the capital.
