Regal London, one of London’s leading residential-led mixed-use developers, today announces that it will launch a first of its kind ‘pop up’ Training Academy scheme. The scheme forms a key part of the company’s recently launched sustainability strategy.
In an exclusive relationship with Building Heroes, Regal London will establish on-site training academies at its developments to support and give back to the local communities in which it operates, making Regal London the first developer in the UK to operate and deliver such a scheme.
To date, Building Heroes has worked with over 1,000 military veterans, providing construction skills and training, and supporting them into sustainable employment in the building and engineering trades.
The Regal London Real Estate Academy will utilise Building Heroes’ expertise to deliver the programme to military veterans as well as working with local councils to help local disadvantaged & underrepresented communities struggling to secure employment. This includes initial provision for three cohorts of 12 military veterans, and three cohorts of 12 local groups.
Longer term, the ‘pop up’ academy will rotate around multiple Regal London sites to create as many opportunities as possible. The scheme is currently expected to commence in Autumn this year.
Each programme will run for five weeks and will see veterans securing a Level 1 Diploma in construction skills, a L1 Health & Safety Award and a CSCS Card. The schedule of the programme can be adapted to the lifecycle of the Regal development it is based on.
The Academies aimed at locally impacted community groups will present different opportunities and roles in the real estate sector as work on site progresses to suit different candidates, and includes front of house and asset management as well as construction skills. Alongside the construction skills programme there will also be an Introduction to the Built Environment programme for those seeking to enter the Construction Professions.
Working closely with local councils in the areas that Regal London operates in, the academy will seek to identify and address skills gaps in these communities, with the ultimate goal of supporting longer-term employment.
Regal London has recently announced plans for two schemes that are likely to play key roles in the training academies, Orchard Wharf, where planning application has been submitted and a plot in Wembley that has recently been acquired for a substantial mixed-use scheme.
